The Monkey Keeper
It really amazes me how I'm able to have a conversation with Riley and Piper. You never know what is going to come out of their mouths. Like today for example. Riley tells me Aubrey is learning how to fly because she is going to be a bird when she gets bigger. Which may be possible. She is starting to squawk like one. She loves hearing her voice. I then asked Riley what type of animal she was. She tells me that Piper,Daddy and her are monkeys. If you've met either of them, its true. Riley then turns the question around and aks me what I am. I told her the truth. " I'm the Zoo Keeper" After Ben got home, I related the conversation to him but letting Riley tell most of the story. Ben asked her what Mama was and she lit right up and shouted "The Monkey Keeper! Can't argue with that logic. I told Ben it could be worse,he could have been a gorilla. Riley starts to giggle and crawls into his lap and says "Daddy, you're a big girl!" You never know how kids are going to interpret things they hear!

To My Superman

You're an incredible husband and father. You're always willing to help out whether its with holding a screaming child(even if its not your own) or putting away a load of never-ending laundry. I was in love with the boy I met nine years ago and very much more in love with the man you've become. The girls and I are very blessed to have you! Happy Father's Day Ben!

It Won't Take That Long
"It won't take that long" that is a quote from my wonderful husband's mouth. Those are the words I have begun to hate. Don't get me wrong, I love Ben. He's a wonderful husband and father. He's like Superman. He can do it all, just not on a normal timeline. We decided to redo the girls room. The drywall needed to be redone and we were going to repaint. "It won't take that long" Ben tells me, as a weekend job is now extending into the middle of the week. We go to Home Depot for paint. We happen to find a really good deal on a vanity for our second bathroom. One that hopefully will keep Riley and Piper out of the toothpaste. "It won't take that long to install it" and so on with the door, trim and window, the tile. Well painting is done,(it looks wonderful) the window is in and the door is partly in. The vanity and trim are sitting in the shed. He is now at Menard's picking up some piping of some sort to fix the waterline that snapped when he tried to fix the clog in the sink. It is really beginning to feel like Murphy's Law is in full affect here. What can you do? Hopefully everything will be finished by next week and I'll have pictures to post so everyone can see how great of a job he did.

Time
Aubrey is cutting her first tooth. This is a first for me. Riley and Piper didn't cut their first teeth until about seven months. They got their two bottom teeth in, while Aubrey's is off to the side and we suspect there is another one towards the back. I've been really trying to enjoy the baby stage with this one because this is our last one. Let me tell you, she is making it impossible. She is already trying to sit up and you put her on the floor and she is all over the place. Aubrey can't seem to stay in one spot. (its been like that from day one) I think she is going to be my traveler. Riley is going to be my movie star and Piper is going to be, well Piper. It changes daily with her. I think its a toss up between a comedian or a farmer. She loves animals and dirt. Where did the time go?

A Little Dirt Never Hurts
During the last couple of weeks of school, Riley and her class learned about plants. The last home visit we had (they do 4 a year) we made a little plant. Riley's teachers are really wonderful and always include Piper. Granted Piper is hard to ignore. She always has to be doing what big sister is doing. So they made these really cute plants. They put grass seed and soil in a nylon stocking. Then he was put in a cup and was given a face. Ben helps them water them. (for those who don't know, I'm not allowed to touch the plants. Ben has the green thumb) Here is a picture of how they are doing. Riley's is coming in like a horseshoe while Piper's is all over the place. Must have been the saliva she decided to add in.

Piper's First Haircut
So now that I finally downloaded all my pictures,I have a few things to blog about. This is Piper's
first haircut. My friend Jenn (not Aunt Jen. Apparently this was a popular name is in the mid-seventies to early eighties. I know at least 5 Jens) did the honors. We went back and forth on whether to cut her hair or grow it out.We decided to trim her bangs. Riley and Piper get mistaken for twins all the time. We thought this might help make them look a little different. Piper started to look like she was growing a mullet plus her bangs where always getting in her face. As much as I try to make the girls look cute,I aways forget they have half of Ben's genes too. As much as my wonderful husband like to look good,he also is all about having fun and if it involves dirt, its even better. Piper is the worst one for it. That girl can get dirty in under thirty seconds and hates it when Mama puts things in her hair. Jenn did a phenomenal job and made her look even more stinking cute. After all was said and done the girls felt that Twinkie and Snickers(their bears) need a little makeover too.
